Cable & Wireless Jamaica this morning contributed J$1/2-million to the Ministry of National Security to assist with its efforts to repair the access road to the Cave Valley Police Station. The project will involve the provision of drainage, laying of kerb walls and asphalting of almost 1000 sq. metres of road surface.
The Ministry of National Security is expected to contribute some $800,000 towards the repair of the road, Minister Phillips disclosed.
CWJ’s Vice President for Corporate Communications Errol K. Miller, who handed over the company’s cheque said the donation resulted from a relationship which has been forged with the Cave Valley Police over recent months.
‘We first noticed the state of disrepair to the road leading to the station some months ago when our engineers came to erect a cellular transmission site in the area and we were always interested in seeing how we could have helped with the repairs’, Mr. Miller said.
In accepting CWJ’s contribution to the project, Minister of National Security, Dr. The Hon. Peter Phillips commended the company on its long history of civic mindedness and pointed to this morning’s donation as another example of private sector and government cooperation in tackling social problems.
This morning’s presentation took place at the Ministry of National Security offices in Kingston
